After ten years,
a new chapter

I'm closing my web design education business and going back into schools, teaching young kids to play in bands. Before I go, I'm making my courses available one last time at archive prices.

Hi, I'm Dave Foy. I've spent nearly ten years teaching WordPress and web design to non-coders, helping people build proper professional websites, grow businesses, change careers and surprise themselves with what they're capable of.

It's been a genuine privilege. But it's time for a new chapter: I'm going back into primary schools, teaching kids to play in rock/pop bands and helping them build confidence and self-belief through music. And that means I'm bringing this web design education business to a close.

Rather than switch everything off overnight, I'd much rather this training ended up with people who'll use it. So I'm making the courses below available one final time at heavily reduced archive prices. Then the cart closes for good — Thursday 10th September, 11:59pm Pacific.

Before you buy anything, please read the next bit properly.

What you're buying — and what you're not

These are DIY archive editions, sold as-is, exactly as the training stands today. That means:

You'll get the video files to download and keep, plus a written PDF companion for every module — the full lesson notes, key points and tasks from each lesson. There's no course platform to log into and nothing dependent on me continuing to run one in the future.

Please download everything promptly after purchase. The files are yours to keep, but I can't promise the delivery links themselves will stay online indefinitely.

If that's not what you want, please don't buy. I'd genuinely rather you didn't.

All good? Right then — here's everything that's available.

Bricks Accelerator

$197 Was $497

My complete Bricks training: 80+ core video lessons, plus extra tips and bonus training, taking you from the fundamentals through responsive layouts, design systems and reusable components to templates, custom fields and fully dynamic WordPress builds.

Start Here + six full modules

  1. Setting the Foundation — learn Bricks itself, configure it properly, and establish the global styles you'll build on throughout the course.
  2. Layout Fundamentals — build robust responsive layouts with Grid and Flexbox, including the HTML structure and accessibility principles underneath them.
  3. Build the Design System — create colour, typography, spacing, grid, width and radius systems with variables instead of inventing random values as you go.
  4. Reusability: Components and Classes — stop rebuilding the same things repeatedly with reusable components, variations, nested components and a sensible class system.
  5. Templates & Dynamic Content — move beyond brochure sites into real WordPress builds with templates, query loops, pagination, CPTs and dynamic content.
  6. Dynamic Techniques & The Complete Build — bring everything together with headers, footers, archives, custom fields, taxonomies, conditional content and the finished case-study site.

Plus practical challenges, bonus lessons, extra tip videos and the supporting course resources. Every module also comes with a PDF companion — the written lesson notes, key points and tasks.

Who it's for

  • Designers moving to Bricks from another builder
  • Anyone building client sites who wants a repeatable system
  • Anyone who's found Bricks powerful but a bit overwhelming

Archive edition: this originally sold at $497 as an intensive live cohort with nine weeks of my personal support, live calls and community access. This version is the recorded training and resources only. Some parts of the Bricks interface may look a little different as the software continues to evolve, but the underlying workflow, design-system thinking and build principles remain the same.

How WordPress Works

$67 Was $147

You can know your page builder inside out and still hit a wall the moment a real project gets properly dynamic. This course gives you the missing mental model for what WordPress is actually doing underneath — so templates, loops, custom fields, taxonomies and dynamic content finally make sense, and you can plan and build real-world sites without guessing or blindly copying tutorials.

The four modules

  1. Foundations: The WordPress Engine — understand the core request-to-content-to-template process WordPress uses to decide what gets shown on a page.
  2. Core Concepts: The WordPress Framework — understand the building blocks WordPress uses to organise content.
  3. Dynamic Case Study: Planning & Setup — turn a real site's requirements into a sensible content model before you build.
  4. Dynamic Case Study: The Full Build — put the concepts together in a complete dynamic WordPress project.

26 lessons in total, plus bonus material. Every module also comes with a PDF companion — the written lesson notes, key points and tasks.

Who it's for

  • Page-builder users who can build layouts but still feel fuzzy on WordPress itself
  • Anyone moving into CPTs, custom fields, templates and dynamic sites
  • Designers who want to understand why things work instead of following recipes

Why this one ages especially well: this course teaches the WordPress concepts underneath your page builder, rather than teaching one particular builder's interface. The case study happens to use Bricks, but the mental model — content types, templates, loops, custom fields, taxonomies and relationships — applies whichever WordPress builder you use.

No Stress DNS

$67 Was $147

If dealing with a client's DNS still gives you that horrible “please don't let me break anything” feeling, this is for you. Learn how domains, nameservers, DNS records, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and migrations actually work — so you can confidently migrate websites and make DNS changes without taking sites down, breaking email or damaging SEO.

The six modules

  1. Domain Names — understand what you're actually buying and how domains fit into the wider system.
  2. Managing DNS & Nameservers — understand what each record actually does, where DNS is controlled, and how to change things without blindly poking at live settings.
  3. Email Authentication: SPF, DKIM and DMARC — understand the records that help legitimate email get delivered and protect domains from spoofing.
  4. Security and Performance Optimisation — use DNS-level tools to make sites safer and faster.
  5. Domain Pointing & Migration: Planning & Prep — work out exactly what needs to change before touching a live client site, so you can minimise downtime and avoid breaking email.
  6. Domain Pointing & Migration: Practical Steps — carry out the move methodically, preserve the important DNS records, and reduce the risk of downtime or SEO disruption.

47 lessons in total, plus the Getting Started section.

Who it's for

  • Web designers responsible for client domains, email and site launches
  • Anyone who still feels nervous touching live DNS
  • Anyone who wants a repeatable migration process instead of crossed fingers

Interface note: Cloudflare has restyled parts of its interface since this was recorded, so some screens look different today. The important part of the course is the underlying DNS model — how domains, nameservers, records, email authentication and migrations actually work — and those principles remain the same.
